wise elephant, making it happen

It’s what they do, not what they say

I’m excited by this new prototype interface from the New York Times: http://prototype.nytimes.com/gst/articleSkimmer/ called “The Skimmer.” It’s an attempt to offer their content in a more useful way to a growing behavior of their audience. It might not be pretty, but it matches the online trend of users skimming through feeds, reading over posts, grabbing the nuggets they want/need.

I’ve been consulting clients to alter and/or match their goals and services to the behaviour of their audience, vs. the intellectual inclination to follow their own ideals. I often say “react to the behavior of your market, follow what are they doing, not what they are saying.” This new interface from the New York Times appears to be on this path. I’m excited to watch as this innovation takes place.
